Workshop - Tutor - Carl Karshagen

Carl Karshagen BSc (Chem Eng)

  Since joining Aikona Management Ltd., Carl has worked with a wide variety of clients including Watson Wyatt  Partners and Sterling Commerce for whom he developed project management methodolgies. Carl followed  this with ongoing support for their project office, project initiatives and further development of project management as a discipline within these organisations.

He also developed the project and resource scheduling procedure for Metronet Rail Limited with ongoing project office support to Metronet Rail BCV, and provision of risk management and lessons learned support to Amazon, BNFL Bradwell Power Station, Parsons E&C, Dstl and QinetiQ.

He has been involved in rolling out the “Project Excellence Programme” for Guinness Nigeria and delivering project management and application training within Network Rail and Transport for London. Carl has recently written a project management manual for GrantRail and facilitated the development of a number of procedures in support of successful project delivery. He has also developed an e-learning module as a pre-requisite to more detailed Risk Management events.

Professional Experience
Carl started his career in project management in the early eighties within the Atomic Energy Corporation of South Africa and used this experience as the foundation for developing his own consulting and training company, Project Planning Systems based in Pretoria, South Africa.  He has a particular interest in the infrastructure aspects of project management, effective support for projects being a common theme in much of his work.

• has an honours degree in Chemical Engineering
• is a full Member of the Association for Project Management (MAPM)
• is a full Member of the Project Management Institute (PMI)
• holds the PMP and APMP qualifications
